stepping stones
to our working together
Step 1 - Discuss with your Therapist
Surrogate Partner Therapy (SPT) begins on the path of you having a working relationship with a talk therapist. If you don’t currently have a clinician who works within this triadic model of SPT, I’d be happy to chat with them and offer information. Please be aware that you will need to have an established relationship with a talk therapist before starting to work with me. To the best of my current knowledge, SPT is not covered by insurance at this time.
Once you and your therapist discuss and agree on the timing of adding a surrogate partner (SP) fill out my Surrogate Partner Therapy intake form. I will email you upon receipt.

Step 2 - Therapist books consult
Your therapist and I will have a brief discussion regarding moving forward.
Step 3 - We all meet on zoom
We will schedule an initial one-hour three-way “triadic” call over Zoom.

Step 4 - Take care of the formalities
Our initial triadic call will allow us to get to know each other, ask any questions, speak about any concerns, and clarify our goals and intentions. If we feel like this triad is a fit, we will proceed to the signing of documents and discuss logistics and scheduling.
Step 5 - Sessions begin
You and I will meet as we have previously discussed and scheduled. During this time, you will check in with your therapist after each session with me. Your therapist and I will also connect between each session.

Step 6 - Re-evaluation: Conclusion or Recommitment
Once we have accomplished our goals/completed our intensive, we will re-evaluate and make a collective decision on whether or not to end Surrogate Partner Therapy or continue with another segment of work together. Depending on our discussion, we can take 1 of 2 paths - a conscious recommitment to continuing our working together/restating goals and intentions, or a closure ritual followed by a triadic call.
